Finding Neo

Few months ago, I met this guy while on surfing vacation in Costa Rica. His name is Neo. Yep! Just like that character in the movie “Matrix,” this surf dude is very good looking with washboard abs. Instantaneously, I liked him and so I approached him and introduced myself. Imagine my embarrassment when he totally ignored me! I felt like a fool in front of him and my friends. “What a jerk,” I thought.

To recover from that horrible experience, my friends and I just partied. What’s the point of being in Costa Rica if you won’t try the party scene? There, if my friends and I were not surfing, we were partying.

On our 4th day, my friends got exhausted and opted to stay in the hotel. The adventurous side of me kicked in. I decided to explore the place. I found this interesting restaurant a few meters from the hotel. I thought, “Why not have a date with myself?” I entered the restaurant and got myself a table next to the piano. While I was waiting for my food, the surf guy who embarrassed me in front of my friends sat on the chair right next to me. He said, “Hi, Jade! I’m Neo.” I was dumbfounded. The guy has some nerve to still approach me after what he did. I ignored him like what he did to me. As soon as my food arrived, I attacked it like a monster so I could leave the place the soonest I can. Neo was still talking but I wasn’t listening. Next thing I knew, he was playing the piano. I couldn’t remember the exact title of the song but it caused me to stop eating. He plays the piano very well. After one song, he sat beside me again. Neo apologized for what he did to me. He told me he wasn’t in his best mood when I first approached him. What can I say, the guy is a charmer. We talked and spent the night getting to know each other.

My friends were shocked when they saw us together the next day. When our group went back to L.A., he tagged along with us. Neo is a businessman from New Jersey. He’s athletic like me. I really enjoy being with him. I guess I’m beginning to fall for him. This is no longer just a physical attraction. But it’s still early to say this, right? Besides, I have yet to hear him say he likes me, too.

Neo is leaving 3 days from now. It makes me sad thinking about it. I want to make him stay. What should I do? Hope this isn’t the end of Neo and me.
